We have been highlighting some of the successes so far of businesses who have been through the Scottish Space Incubator. Today we’d like to shine a light on two others – Trade in Space, alumni of the 2018/2019 cohort, and Nudge Exchange, who are currently part of the 2019/2020 group.
Trade In Space
Trade in Space have developed a platform to help extract more accurate data, and translate it into something actionable, for industry to use. Their technology is in place for the farming industry as well as local and national traders. They were part of the year long Scottish Space Incubator programme last year.
Robin Sampson, Founder of Trade in Space says of his time in the Incubator, “Being at the Tontine as a space tech start-up was immensely helpful. The other businesses are in complimentary industries, so immediately we were able to start a collaborative project with a fellow resident.
This is an extremely important service which gives very early stage start-ups the confidence, and home, they need to take the first steps into their chosen business model.
Everyone involved in the Incubator wants to see you succeed and is there to celebrate your successes. Seek out the Space Incubator and have a chat about your idea and what you’d like to do; they’ll let you know what your first steps should be. It’s a well-connected community and warm introductions can make all the difference!”

Nudge Exchange is half way through its time within this unique Incubator programme. Launching later this year, Nudge Exchange is a platform that allows contractors within the energy sector connect with large energy businesses looking for their next project team, often at short notice.
Darren Nicol, Founder of Nudge Exchange said that already the Incubator has had a “tremendous impact” on the growth of the business. Not only was he able to grow his team, he’s been able to test his technology to give the business a good foundation.
“The incubator has been invaluable in providing the right people in order to source information, meaning I can make sound decisions. The incubator is a fantastic collaborative space to bounce ideas around. It’s helpful to speak to those who have gone before us, as it gives you the opportunity to try avoid the multitude of pitfalls along the way.
Starting something new can be a lonely venture, so having the support of the incubator bridges the gap as the business grows.
The incubator has been great for us; it has provided premises, some funding along the way and most importantly a sounding board from talented people. I’d highly recommend it.”
